kobrapatron22 Aug 2010 00:24Hello everyone, I am currently at my wit’s end and have no further ideas or approaches on how to handle the following problem:
I was tiling the bathroom for some acquaintances. Before starting the work, I shut off both the cold and hot water and removed the fittings, water meter, and faucets. After completing the tiling, I reinstalled everything. The hot water works, but the cold water does not. The faucet itself seems to be fine, as it turns normally. What’s confusing is that there is also no cold water in the kitchen. There is a separate shower room, and everything there is fine. In the basement, there is no main connection (this is a multi-family house) where everything converges. I confirmed this with the neighbor beforehand. The apartment is privately owned. Are there usually plans available that show the layout of the water pipes so they can be traced? I have the feeling that there might still be a central shut-off valve in the apartment that controls both the bathroom and kitchen. How likely is it that an incorrect installation of the water meter

could cause this situation? What cannot be ruled out either is that a pipe was damaged somewhere during tile removal, but I would prefer not to assume that. Meanwhile, the kitchen installers were also on site and insist they did not turn anything off. I do not want to hire a professional company in the current state, as they will probably make it a “big issue.” The worst part: since there is no cold water, the only toilet does not work either!
I would be immensely grateful for any help.

Did you possibly install the water meter backwards? Please check the flow direction!!!!!!I hadn’t paid close attention to that. I will check it during the day. Thanks for the tip. I’ll get back to you if necessary.
