Hello everyone, the tiling work in our new build has been completed. We are far from satisfied with the results. The tiler says everything is within tolerance, but we find that hard to believe. That’s why we wanted to get some independent opinions. What do you think? Were the work carried out according to recognized standards and technical rules or relevant DIN regulations?

We would appreciate any helpful responses.

I took a look at our place this morning: we had a very meticulous tiler who did a good job – the corner trims, which are narrow metal strips in our case, were also not mitred or cut in a similar way. So they are installed similarly to yours, but perfectly straight, making everything look neat and precise.

At your place, someone worked who wasn’t as careful with the details.

What do you think about the solution for the top step of the staircase? Is this an acceptable approach? Usually, the tile should extend all the way to the edge, but is this also up to the discretion of the tiler? By the way, he also installed the stair treads.

This is done properly, although in my opinion it is not aesthetically pleasing. Here too, the question of whether the execution was agreed upon must be allowed.

I wouldn’t recommend using plaster in wet areas. Instead, he should have the tiler come back to re-grout, or at least ask which grout material was originally used.
