Hello everyone, the tiling work in our new build has been completed. We are far from satisfied with the results. The tiler says everything is within tolerance, but we find that hard to believe. That’s why we wanted to get some independent opinions. What do you think? Were the work carried out according to recognized standards and technical rules or relevant DIN regulations?

We would appreciate any helpful responses.

Best regards, Gerrit

I would offer him the option to publish these pictures as a reference on his website 🙄

It doesn’t look good... But whether he has to fix it is a completely different question.

Hello Gerit,

It is difficult to assess this based on your pictures; the angle of the photos "can" be misleading.

At first glance, I would suspect that the tiler has not delivered a perfect job in some places and will need to do some rework. Overall, however, all the work should be within the allowable tolerances.

The close-up of the joint at the edge is naturally problematic, but with a normal gap, it won’t be as noticeable.
Here is a tip for the small holes in the grouting: simply fill them by smoothing some plaster over them with your finger. This also works for the joint at the edges.

Is it normal to install the finishing strips like this at a 90-degree inside corner? He also installed end caps and outside corner connectors. Shouldn't inside corner connectors be installed as well? Or can the tiler do it however they want?

With your last sentence, you have already answered yourself. As long as you have not explicitly agreed on something, such as how an inside corner should look, the tiler can and is allowed to do it as he sees fit...
