Hello,

I wanted to start working on our soakaway system and discovered that there are concrete "chunks" under the downpipes.
A hammer and rotary hammer are not enough; I don’t have a jackhammer.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove this?

Cut the pipe above the concrete with an angle grinder, remove the concrete, and then connect it—could this be an alternative?

And how can I most easily remove the concrete?

With appropriate tools; for example, a rotary hammer drill?

He already mentioned that the rotary hammer is too light for this.
It might be possible to break the concrete with a heavier hammer.

Alternatively, you could rent the appropriate equipment from a hardware store or a similar place.

I would recommend using a proper sledgehammer. Most materials give way after a few hits with one.

A proper jackhammer will handle this without problems. A hammer drill might actually fail here.
If you don’t have the right equipment, you’ll need to rent, buy, or borrow one, or have a professional do the work.

Who poured the concrete in this spot?
