Hello,
Which roof would you recommend for my 9x6 meter (30x20 foot) garage? The back two meters (6.5 feet) are separated as storage. So the free span is a maximum of 8 meters (26 feet).
A concrete ceiling would cost between 5000 and 6000 euros.
I would like to have the ceiling cheaper and do it myself.

We are not familiar with your house or your local development plan. Your house is relevant in the sense that, in my opinion, the garage should not appear too out of place or disconnected; and if it is built on the boundary, usually a moderate wall height would limit the height of the roof structure. On its own, a truss construction would seem both practical and neat to me—but it is difficult to judge aesthetically without knowing the house it will be attached to.
I always get frustrated by how casually, right next to perfectly designed houses, plain “shoeboxes” are built for cars (or even worse, bulky waste is stored there with the car parked in front), looking from afar as if “no emotional effort was left for this” :-(

So, the house is nothing special. Square-shaped with a gable roof.
A regular concrete roof differs from a wooden roof only by a cover strip on the side. From above, you hardly notice it anyway.
I’ve seen this kind of thing quite often and don’t consider it shameful.
There is no building plan / planning permission, and the interior height should be about 2.2 meters (7.2 feet).

How would you construct a roof with collar beams? Do you build the walls up to 2.5m (8 feet 2 inches) high and lay the beams across them, or do you leave niches every 0.5 - 1.0m (1 foot 8 inches - 3 feet 3 inches) in height and insert the beams there?Yes, the substructure then needs to be made with beams.
I’m just not sure what goes on top of that.
Wood, insulation, and bitumen? Or sandwich panels? Or something else?
