Hello everyone, I have a question and hope to get some helpful answers here. I am planning to upgrade an older Ikea kitchen to the new Metod system, but I am not clear on which fittings from the Metod system are compatible with older kitchen models.

More specifically, I am interested in whether Metod hinges, such as the standard hinges or other special fittings, can be installed on older frames or cabinet variants without major adjustments to the fronts or cabinets.

I would appreciate any experiences or tips on which Metod fittings work best and what to watch out for during the upgrade to ensure everything remains stable and functional. Thank you!

Corner solutions or custom cabinets often require specific adjustments. Standard hinges are not designed to bear such loads without modification. When upgrading, it is important to also consider the structural integrity, otherwise, you may encounter problems with the door later on.

Thank you for the extensive and detailed help! To summarize, I am now sure that I:
- cannot simply replace old Faktum hinges with Metod
- will need adapter plates or additional drilling
- must pay special attention to structural stability, especially for corner cabinets

I will now proceed with a planned approach and will reach out here in the forum again if I have specific questions. Many thanks to everyone so far!
