What would you do differently in your next house build? (For us, there won’t be a next time, but I think beginners can benefit from our experience.) Please stay on topic and avoid lengthy discussions (feel free to start a new thread for that)!

I’ll start:
* Electrician: A network connection in every room isn’t necessary; nowadays everyone uses Wi-Fi, which is perfectly sufficient.
* Us: OK, then we’ll install one network connection per floor where the TV is going, you have to save somewhere.
* Result: At the network outlet, we get 50 Mbit/s, Wi-Fi with a repeater around 20, sometimes only about 5, Powerline adapters around 25. It’s enough for me, but the kids are disappointed. I followed all the usual advice.

I simply wouldn’t have the time to deal with it.

You don’t have to. Everything is available ready-made from professionals according to the builder’s requirements. People don’t build their own phones either; they just buy one.

The sockets themselves don’t obstruct opening. Even with a regular plug, it’s still fine. We were sold this as a great invention for Christmas lights. It’s quite practical if you don’t want to run three extension cords all the way to the window... but if you add a timer switch in between, that can be a hassle.

It helps if you connect all the sockets in the window recesses to a single circuit that includes a timer module in the electrical panel. That’s how it’s set up in my apartment... typical Erzgebirge tradition with the “Schwibbogen” at Christmas time. And it’s very practical.

It’s also better to place them in the recess rather than in the wall section under the window, because this way the supply cables for the Schwibbogen are hardly noticeable.

One telephone = 30€ One KNX system = 30,000€ (including electrical installation) The offers here in the forum unfortunately reflect this.

We received 7,500 euros for the painting work and estimated about 500 euros ...

What?! For the entire interior of the house?!
We were offered over 20,000. Filling, wallpapering everything, painting twice, some rooms with textured plaster, whitewashing all basement rooms, waxing the entire wooden beam ceiling on the ground floor twice...
We already paid 1,000 euros for materials (primer and paint) for the exterior wood finish!

No, just painting, priming, and two coats. [emoji4]
Q3 plaster finish costs an additional 7000 euros.
Final coating on the underside of the roof costs 2500 euros.
We didn’t do any wallpapering, so there are no prices for that.

So it’s probably all within your budget. [emoji6]

Our general contractor is charging an extra 17,000 € for a central ventilation system. Two other construction companies quoted significantly higher prices (19,000, 20,000).
Wow, such a wide range. We paid less than 14,000 € for a central ventilation system covering three floors [emoji15]
