ᐅ Toilet ceramic height above finished floor level?

Hello everyone,
we are about to install the cisterns and decide on the toilet height. For our Geberit ceramic toilet, the installation manual states 41cm (16 inches) from the finished floor level. However, I personally find this too low. I am now considering a ceramic height of 46cm (18 inches) (48cm (19 inches) seat height minus 2cm (1 inch) toilet seat thickness).
What height have you set in your homes?

Regards and thanks,
Hannes

Toilet bowls with seats 46 and 47.
Washbasin in the guest toilet 92 and in the bathroom 91.
Height 1.68 m (5 ft 6 in)

Ah great, thanks!! The plumbing expert said a maximum of 48 cm (19 inches) (top edge of the ceramic) is possible according to the DIN standard and recommended that to us, but that seemed too high to me when I measured 48 cm (19 inches) next to the toilet with a tape measure—and then the seat is added on top... I’m only 1.64 m (5 ft 4 in), so I’d be hanging there like a small child in midair 😀 😀

We decided to go lower so we wouldn’t need a squatty potty. 😎

Only kids really need those and they grow (much faster than you think)... My “little one” at 10 years old is now just a few centimeters shorter than me 😀

Our plumbing expert said higher is better as you get older.

But higher is also anatomically worse 🙂

I wouldn’t make it too high.

When we had to make the decision, I sat on a chair to test it and measured it, then thought about whether we wanted it to be lower or higher.
You can’t base it solely on height since leg length can still vary.
And usually, you don’t live alone. For me alone, I would make it 1 to 2 cm (about 0.5 to 0.8 inches) lower. A top edge of the ceramic at 48 cm (19 inches) would be too high for me.

During the selection process in the showroom, we actually had the chance to test sit at several different heights 🙂

I believe we ultimately chose the compromise height of 44 cm (17 inches) plus the cushion (for heights of 158 / 178 cm (5'2" / 5'10")) and all of us, including the children, are comfortable with it.

Basically, it’s better to go a bit lower rather than too high.

Aren't you familiar with the funny video with the unicorn?
You should look it up. It’s not just true for children. 😉

Toilet height including seat: 46cm (can be 1 cm lower according to my sitting preference)
Washbasin in the guest WC 85cm - fits well!
