In our new build, water from the neighboring construction site repeatedly enters our basement. The adjacent house is still partially unfinished. After the basement was dried out again, drywall panels were installed. Due to ongoing rain, the water level in the basement is about 5 cm (2 inches) high again, and the drywall is slowly absorbing water. Is it possible to dry them out with construction dehumidifiers, or do they need to be removed?

1. I would remove the drywall; it will swell up.
2. How can water from the neighboring house get into your basement? The houses (I assume it’s a semi-detached or terraced house) are supposed to be separated from each other!

I assume that it comes from the neighbor. Since we have a shared foundation slab at a different height, water will find its way.

@ Messjogi

What exactly should I understand by "together and offset in height"?

Definitely remove the drywall panels. Gypsum board tends to develop mold very quickly. Additionally, the wall area behind the gypsum boards would need to be dried again.
