we are currently in the early planning phase of our new build.
After researching the energy efficiency classes and the energy demand of our future house, I still have a few questions.
The house will have about 160 square meters (1,722 square feet) of living space plus a basement, spread over two floors.
I am planning underfloor heating in all the rooms on the occupied ground floor and first floor.
A water-heated stove or tiled stove will be installed on the ground floor, which will channel waste heat into a storage tank.
In addition, we want a ventilation system with heat recovery.
I think this setup should be sufficient during winter, since we will probably use the wood stove every day.
For the summer (when the stove is not in use), I was considering solar collectors with a storage tank. However, I am not yet sure about the maximum area available for solar collectors. I estimate around 8 square meters (86 square feet).
My question is:
Where can I calculate whether this setup will be sufficient for 2 people living in 160 square meters (1,722 square feet), both in summer with the solar collectors and in winter with the water-heated stove?
Or can you tell me if this will be enough?
I would prefer to avoid installing a gas connection if possible.
Best regards and many thanks in advance,
Joe

Hello,
Example: A building is offered/sold for €230,000. According to a manipulated consumption forecast, the final energy consumption (heating/domestic hot water) is estimated at 4300 kWh/year. The specific price of the building is therefore €53 per annual kWh of final energy.
A real (accurate) consumption forecast shows instead 6600 kWh/year of final energy due to inadequate system planning/device selection! Specific price €35 per annual kWh. Loss??? Please calculate yourself!
Best regards
manowar30 schrieb:Research alone is not enough! Urgent advice: Have the provider prepare a final energy consumption forecast based on the actual parameters before signing the contract.

manowar30 schrieb:This example clearly shows that neither an MEP engineer nor a specialized energy consultant took the lead. The overall concept is hardly profitable. Probably a standard turnkey/general contractor offer! ;-)
...Where can I get calculations whether this will be enough for 2 people living in 160 sqm? Both in summer with solar collectors and in winter with the hydronic stove....

Or can you tell me if this will be sufficient?

manowar3024 Jun 2011 20:53We have neither requested a quote nor consulted with experts.
Construction will likely start around early next year or the year after.
We are in no rush since we currently don’t pay any rent anyway....
I just wanted, as a layperson, to find out what people in this forum think of my concept. I figured it out myself and just wanted to know if it’s enough to manage without gas or oil heating...
