Hello everyone,
Climate change seems to have arrived here in recent years. Right now, we are experiencing tornadoes again in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, with fatalities and over 40 injured. When I look at the density of tornadoes in Germany over the past years, decades, and centuries on Wikipedia at https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_von_Tornados_in_Europa, it can really make your head spin. The increase in tornadoes is undeniable...
Something for the climate would probably not be entirely wrong! Houses and roofs built in the conventional way may soon no longer be sufficient!

Yesterday, there was an interesting discussion about this on Markus Lanz’s show. Germany mainly imports palm oil from Indonesia and blends it into fuel to improve its environmental statistics. On the other hand, rainforests in Indonesia are being cleared to make way for new palm oil plantations. Makes perfect sense, totally eco-friendly...

You are right about that. Without looking it up, I believe Germany ranks sixth on the list of CO2 emitters, with China and the USA naturally at the top. Of course, with our 2% share, we can’t save the world alone—that’s clear to me. Still, I don’t want to live as if I completely don’t care. That’s something I can neither reconcile with my conscience nor justify to my child. I’m not the type to point fingers at others by saying "you are doing this…" while not acting myself.
A country also isn’t in a position to demand more climate protection from others if it doesn’t take any action itself.

My best friend and his girlfriend would never move to the area where I am moving now (and that’s still Berlin, after all).
If they had the means and opportunity, she would prefer a 4-room apartment in the Bötzowviertel with a large rooftop terrace and an elevator to even the most beautiful house in the countryside.
Secretly, I think he is a bit disappointed that I’m basically moving "to the countryside."

I find that completely reasonable – as a single person or couple, I also felt very comfortable living in big cities. But not so much as a family.
And if new buildings are constructed with proper sound insulation, the neighbors don’t cause much disturbance either.
I do want to have some private greenery, though, so it would have to be a larger balcony or a roof terrace that is strong enough to hold large plant containers.
Then I wouldn’t even need a car.
