For some time now, the water in our bathtub has not been draining properly. It takes ages for the tub to finally empty.
I’ve also tried a powdered drain cleaner, but it didn’t really help. Maybe someone can offer some advice.
Best regards, oobravo-1

Forget the drain cleaner!
It’s best to avoid using drain cleaners, as they are very harmful to the environment. In hardware stores, you can find drain snakes, which work great for cleaning clogged drains. Some say that cola might help as well, but I haven’t tried it myself, so I can’t guarantee it will work. Usually, hair is what clogs the drain, and if you want to prevent that, there are strainers you can place over the drain that catch the hair before it goes down.

I wouldn’t use the drain cleaner anymore since you mentioned it doesn’t work, and it’s also full of harmful chemicals for the environment. You can get a pressure blaster, which is available at hardware stores and from plumbers. It’s filled with air and then released, and the pressure created clears the drain.

Hi,
a friend shared her remedy for clogged drains with me. She buys a cheap cola and pours it down the drain, which is supposed to help. She couldn’t tell me whether it’s the ingredients in the cola or the carbonation that does the trick. But judging by the taste, there must be something in there that simply dissolves the blockage.

Wastewater pipes made of plastic cannot develop limescale...! So that's not the case unless you still have metal pipes from the 1950s. But even then, it wouldn’t be limescale, just deposits left behind by bathers.
