Hello!

A bit of a strange idea, but I want to try this as a DIY project soon. I have an L-shaped living room. This L-shape bothers me, so I plan to create a kind of small enclosed quiet space at the end of the L by simply extending the wall. I don’t want to build a full wall because I don’t have my wife’s permission for that. Now I was thinking about a stud frame construction. Lightweight build, wooden battens, screws, drywall, nothing more. But I’m not sure if that will work? Does anyone perhaps have an alternative suggestion?

Hello Tarzan,

You can easily extend the wall using a stud wall. At my home, we have also divided two rooms this way. You can later apply joint compound to the drywall and then possibly add a plaster finish. It looks really nice if you add a bit of color.
