This concerns a very simple garden shed. Its roof is covered with tiles and currently leaking. A new roof is planned:

Rafters (spacing about 60 cm (24 inches))
OSB board on the rafters
Roofing felt on the OSB board
Battens on the OSB board
Concrete roof tiles

And the shed is finished!

The person who will do the work suggests using OSB boards with a thickness of 12 mm (0.47 inches). That seems quite thin to me. I am concerned that they might eventually bend under the weight of the concrete roof tiles.

What is the expert opinion (just a gut feeling)? Is 12 mm sufficient, or better 15 mm (0.59 inches) or even 18 mm (0.71 inches)?

Thank you!
Melanie

PS: Please no advice (even if well meant) that the construction is wrong, or that clay roof tiles would be better, or anything else... I am only interested in the assessment regarding the thickness of the OSB boards.
