ᐅ Solar thermal and/or photovoltaic systems – who has experience?

Hello,
after numerous discussions with different experts, we are now quite confused.
Background:
Our house (basement, ground floor, upper floor with a total living area of 200 m² (2,150 sq ft)) has a shed roof with a 12.5° pitch facing northeast.
The first expert recommended adding a solar thermal system to our air-to-water heat pump; the second considers this completely pointless because, according to him, a) we would constantly have uselessly hot water stored in the buffer tank, and, in the worst case, the roof seals could get damaged, whereas with photovoltaic panels we would be more flexible and could use the energy for heating but also for feeding electricity back into the grid when the buffer is full...
In other words, the second expert predicts constantly unused hot water and significant problems with such systems and recommends photovoltaics instead.

But well, nothing can be changed now. I also find solar panels pointless with an air-to-water heat pump, and with the orientation even more so—as just a token feature.
I would have the entire roof covered with flat photovoltaic panels without storage and calculate whether it makes financial sense. Then consider if the additional cost of mounting systems justifies itself. After that, aesthetics can be debated.
However, I think the mounting systems are not worth it.
