Hello everyone, I have a very specific problem: small items keep disappearing from the compartments of my Kallax shelving unit. This is especially true for the compartments where I store small parts like screws, connectors, or craft materials—I either can’t find them again or they slip into dark corners. I have already tried organizing with boxes or plastic bags, but that often doesn’t work optimally, and small parts seem to disappear almost magically.

My question is: What practical and proven methods do you know to prevent these small parts from constantly going missing in a Kallax unit? I’m grateful for any ideas that really help and don’t just “sound nice.” Thanks in advance!

I recommend clear small boxes with lids that fit exactly into the Kallax compartments. This way, you can organize the parts well, and they won’t fall out. Rubber bands around the lids help prevent accidental opening.

That’s a good tip, which I would like to add to: I store small items like screws or connectors in transparent, labeled containers with lids. This way, I can immediately see what's inside, and the items don’t fall out. Additionally, I use magnetic trays to avoid losing parts when pouring them out.

It also helps to store as few items as possible in one compartment and to regularly declutter and reorganize the containers. The combination of visibility and order is essential so that nothing can “disappear.” Perhaps you have also tried lining individual compartments with fabric or a thin mat? This can prevent parts from slipping through or hiding.

Wow, the issue of “small parts disappearing in the Kallax” is something many people can relate to! 🙂

I believe the key lies in combining good organization with small handy tools. I really like using these small, stackable sorting boxes that can even be subdivided with small grids – this is brilliant because it allows not just rough sorting, but also keeping tiny parts separated!

In addition, I don’t just use boxes to organize my Kallax shelves, but also small fabric or nylon bags in the compartments, which I close with a clip or something lightweight.

That’s brilliant!!! I definitely have to try that idea 🙂

So, keep at it, you can really get this problem under control with the right strategy—I managed it myself—and good luck to you too!
