After finally moving into our new home, we quickly realized that the large bedroom under the roof is far too bright—and warm. We have fitted some rooms on the ground floor with Schottis folding blinds and are very satisfied. However, under the roof, we would need a model that darkens the room... and isn’t completely rectangular. Any ideas?

Hello, you won’t be able to avoid an expensive custom-made solution in this case. It’s about a vertical window in a side wall, right?

IKEA only offers the TUPPLUR roller blind for darkening. In theory, you could take the fabric, cut it to size, and come up with a clever mechanism to build yourself, but you really need to enjoy tinkering and crafting, as well as have time and patience for it.

The window is also located on the sloped ceiling; it is an older model from Fakro. I enjoy working on projects like this – I’ll take a closer look!

I have not yet seen a window in the roof slope that is not rectangular, so I find it difficult to imagine what it looks like.
