ᐅ The shower toilet suddenly sprays water unexpectedly

Last night, I woke up to an unfamiliar noise.
The shower toilet had activated its wash function even though no one was sitting on it... in the middle of the night... hours after the last use.
If I hadn’t noticed it by chance (the door between the bathroom and bedroom was open), we would now have water damage. Fortunately, only the opposite wall was affected and the carpet got wet, but the operation stopped after a few minutes.
It is an AXENT.ONE model, which seemed to me the best of all the ones we looked at.
I have contacted the manufacturer and am awaiting their response.
My "feeling" is that from now on I can’t leave the house without turning off the circuit breaker for the toilet.
Even if I always keep the lid closed, water could leak through the gap – not to mention that water is quite expensive here in Northern Hesse.

I wouldn’t want to be without the function itself. From my perspective, cleaning with water is the only sensible option... but THIS.

I just had to tell someone...
What can I do now? … no idea...

The WC circuit breaker has been reset.
I assume it is a loose connection.
Since there is a shut-off function (and the water—without a flush—mostly ends up in the bathtub opposite), I am taking the risk that it might happen again. (That would also be useful for troubleshooting.)
The company AXENT needs/will inspect the issue and provide a proposal.

From what I’ve seen browsing online, the range of available options has expanded significantly over the past three years.

Just now, while I’m writing, an email arrived:

The user manual is attached.

On page 48, it states that the contacts need to be cleaned regularly.

Have you done this?

Cleaning the contacts ensures fault-free operation. If the contacts are not cleaned over an extended period and dirt builds up, malfunctions can occur.

Please carry out the cleaning and check if the situation improves. If there is no improvement, please contact your installer and file a complaint there.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us by phone.

Kind regards

Well, with my very first comment in #3, I was already on the right track. Now we can only hope that it will help.

Yes, that’s true.
I could imagine that such a device would NOT work if it is dirty (which was probably the cause, although it wasn’t that dirty).
But I wouldn’t have expected it to do something it is not supposed to do, and to do so at any random time.

At least my circular saw doesn’t turn on “randomly” just because the sawdust wasn’t cleaned away...

My impression is that the company is not “at fault,” but for now I wouldn’t recommend them.
Something like this shouldn’t happen, and the engineers should design it so that it simply cannot happen.
So! That’s my opinion.

Thank you all for being part of this.

Somehow, thoughts like these make me worried about the future.

When I have to go, I just have to go. I don’t have the patience to first dismiss pop-up cookie warnings from my toilet flush before I’m allowed to lift the toilet seat :-(

Oh, the next-generation toilet will be waiting for you with the seat up and preheated to the perfect temperature just for you, because it already knows you’re about to use it!

Let's continue

The same Axent toilet, a new problem:
The electrical connection has a fundamental issue – sometimes it doesn’t turn on, and other times it doesn’t turn off. (the contacts have been cleaned many times)
Calls made:
1. We didn’t try with the installation company because this was the first bidet toilet they installed (a friendly company in a rural area).
2. It’s impossible to reach anyone by phone at Axent.
3. The dealer still hasn’t called back after 2 days (actually a friendly gentleman).
4. The Axent repair service says:
“If the contacts weren’t regularly cleaned and such a fault occurs, there’s nothing we can do. Please buy a new lid” … but they couldn’t say how much that costs.

I’m quite frustrated and cleaned the visible contacts with sanding pads. It helped “a little.” The problem now only occurs in one place (when lifting the lid completely).

The annoying thing is:
The bidet toilet concept is so comfortable that I definitely want to keep using one. Axent is a reputable company from Switzerland, so I’m surprised it’s been so difficult.
For another location in the house, I would consider a different company (and be annoyed that everything is different from what I’m used to), but after this experience, I no longer trust others either...

I just needed someone to share this with...
Thanks for reading 🙂
