ᐅ Should the electrical connection be installed by the utility company or by a civil engineer/underground contractor?

Marko958Hello,
I hope I have chosen the right subforum. If not, feel free to move this thread. 😉
The shell of our house is now up, the windows are installed, and the roof will be covered this week. In two weeks, the interior partition walls (plasterboard) will be installed.
We are starting to consider the utility connections, and today the local energy supplier (Thüringen Energie) is coming to discuss the details. The connection, including civil engineering work, costs about 2,000 € (approximately 2,000 EUR), with a reimbursement of 90 € (approximately 90 EUR) if we handle the civil engineering ourselves. The trench will need to be about 8–9 m (26–30 ft) long.
Now for my question:
Our construction manager from the general contractor advises us to coordinate the civil engineering work for the electrical connection together with the work for water and wastewater. Although the 90 € (90 EUR) savings wouldn’t cover the full cost, coordination would be simpler.
However, the network operator prefers to handle the trenching themselves because trenching at the same time as water and wastewater would require a stepped trench.
It is important to know that all connections converge at one point on the property.
How was this handled in your case?
Thank you,
Marko958

With us, the construction supervisor (GÜ) arranged for a suitable conduit to be installed from the property boundary to the house connection during the groundwork. Water supply and wastewater pipes were also routed up to the house at the same time, so that digging only had to be done once.
Yes, we would have preferred that as well, but it was not planned that way by the site manager.
The question has become irrelevant because the electrical connection requires crossing the street. The other utilities are already on the property. The energy provider should handle that for the fixed price.
