I have two questions and hope this is the right place to ask.
We had our screed installed on May 5, 2017. It’s anhydrite everywhere except in the utility room, guest bathroom, and main bathroom, where it is regular cement screed.
The underfloor heating heat-up program has also been completed for about a week.
Since we are laying the floor ourselves, both vinyl and tiles, we don’t have a flooring installer to perform the CM moisture measurement.
Now I’m wondering if, after such a ‘long’ drying time and with really good weather (the last few weeks have been wonderful), we can assume that the screed is dry enough? I also just read about the hand test here in the forum and plan to try it as well.
The relative humidity upstairs is currently around 50%, and on the ground floor about 45%. During the hot weeks, it averaged about 38% relative humidity, which was due to the extreme warmth and apparently dry weather here (we had 38% already two weeks after the screed was laid).
That’s question number one. Now to the second question.
The order confirmation for the vinyl floor includes a vapor barrier membrane—is this strictly necessary, and if so, what is its purpose? The ground slab is insulated, and so on.
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Anna-Lena
