Dear Home Builders,

The oil heating system SCHRAG Satellit TV 15 S is installed in my apartment. It has been working perfectly for years until about a week ago. I will now try to describe the problem in detail and also explain everything I have already tried together with a heating engineer. All attempts were carried out under strict safety regulations and laws.

Unfortunately, no tiled stove specialist is available for me, and I have been ill for a long time now in a cold apartment. The situation is difficult for me, so I would like to express my appreciation at the outset and thank you for taking the time to read this!

Problem:

The flame in the burner pot is very weak and does not produce the necessary heat. The thermostat setting does not make a difference. After varying times of 10 to 60 minutes, I receive error code 13 indicated by blinking on the control unit.

What I have also noticed:

When I open the inspection window, a surprisingly large amount of smoke comes out, which is not normal.

What I have already tried:

Since I have the same heating system functioning properly one floor below, I have compared several things. I have also documented these in videos to help with an assessment.

1. Is enough oil reaching the dosing pump from the basement pump?

I opened the dosing pump and manually operated the float. I found that plenty of oil is arriving.

2. Is enough oil passing through the small pipe above the dosing pump?

I compared my oil flow with the amount from the functioning heating system. Both seem to deliver the same amount.

3. Is enough oil reaching the burner pot?

I blew through the supply pipe to the burner with a compressor and checked it with a wire. I noticed that more air flows through the pipe of the working system than through the problem system. However, air is still flowing, so it should be open.

4. Is the chimney draft insufficient or too dirty?

I opened the flue pipes at the back of the heating system to ensure there is enough draft.

5. Ignition gap adjusted

I have readjusted the ignition distance. It definitely ignites, but the flame remains too small.

I am asking for help and grateful for any tips!!

What could be the cause? The control unit?

If the problem cannot be resolved, I could buy and install the same burner drawer from eBay. However, that would cost me about 1000€, and it would be a shame if it’s only due to a small issue.

3. Is enough oil reaching the combustion chamber?

I used a compressor to blow through the pipe in the burner and followed it with a wire. I noticed that more air flows through the working heater than through the heater with the problem. However, air still flows through, and it should be open.

Update!
As described in the manual, instead of using the compressor and wire, I pushed through from the right side with an Allen key and removed a lot of dirt. Everything is working again! Many thanks.
