Hello dear building enthusiasts,
We plan to start building in the spring and are currently collecting quotes for windows:
So far, we have received two offers. One from Weru and one from Veka.
First of all: These are PVC windows for a bungalow!!!
For WERU, we are interested in the Afino One (or Afino Tec) model:
Afino ONE, triple glazing, 6-chamber profile, installation depth: 86mm (3.4 inches), thermal insulation values up to Uw = 0.68, PVC profile with steel reinforcement, RC2 with Condense-Stop.
Regarding the hardware attachment: All security-relevant and load-bearing components are screwed into steel.
The icing on the cake is that WERU currently has a promotion for security hardware, which is naturally very interesting for a bungalow.
Then we also have an offer for VEKA:
VEKA Alphaline 90 MD, 6-chamber system in frame and sash, rigid PVC, A-quality profile, middle reinforcement chamber with steel insert, 90mm (3.5 inches) installation depth, RAL quality mark. Hardware: Siegenia-Aubi (Titan AF) with security locks according to RC1 as standard from 40cm (16 inches) hardware height & width. Thermal insulation glass Ug = 0.6 W/m²K (0.11 W/ft²K), 32 dB sound insulation. With warm edge spacer.
Now to the “issue.” We had a pretty good feeling about the Weru windows, especially since security features are very important to us, so we would actually prefer RC2.
The dealer for the VEKA windows claimed that since VEKA is a profile manufacturer, they can guarantee the stability of the windows, which is supposedly not the case with WERU (of course, the dealer wants to sell). He also said that the hardware on Weru windows is not comparable to VEKA because VEKA’s hardware is made of steel. I hope an expert is reading and can tell me whether this is true or can generally give me a recommendation… I think the windows don’t differ much in quality overall.
We also have a lift-and-slide door in the living room. That one is quite expensive at €3,300. There is apparently an alternative, the tilt-and-slide door (PSK), which costs about half as much.
Does anyone have any experience with those?
Pros and cons?
Maybe someone can help me soon, as I need to make a decision shortly…
Many thanks in advance to everyone reading!

What I’ve noticed, however, is that the so-called RC2 windows aren’t really RC2 – it’s actually just about the number of mushroom cams referencing RC2.
We chose Rehau profiles. For us, the deciding factor wasn’t the profile or its manufacturer, but the window maker who actually builds the windows from the profiles and offered us a good price.
The most expensive profile won’t help you if the window maker does a lousy job.

Bieber081510 Mar 2016 21:25What can you say? If security is really important, you should insist on certified windows (RC2). Terms like "based on" are too vague in this context. What is the breakaway torque of the lockable window handles? Do you have that information in writing?
Lift-and-slide or tilt-and-slide ... there are a few threads on this here:

The forum search will find even more.

The U-values of 0.6 are already quite good, if not very good. A few years ago, they were still around 1.0. However, these differences are probably only minimal.
Can anyone share their opinion about the fittings of Weru windows? Specifically, how stable they are? It is said that the fittings are made by Weru themselves and are not very good, especially with triple glazing. However, as mentioned, I’m not sure if this is true or just a tactic to discredit the competitor.
Maybe someone here has Weru or Veka windows and can share their experience? That would really help me a lot!!!!
