Hello everyone,
We plan to clad our planned bay window in the familiar style with wood. Basically, installing the base battens and profiles is not a problem. The only question I have is whether the battens should be attached directly to the bare brickwork or if we should have the surface plastered underneath.
I need this information to estimate the approximate square meters (square feet) of surface to be plastered.
Thank you very much!
Best regards

We will also have wooden cladding on some parts of the house, and both the architect and the plasterer are completely agreed that the base plaster must be applied underneath the cladding.
This also makes sense in terms of wind and water tightness. Neither has mentioned an underlay membrane yet...
To ensure that the wooden sections do not protrude beyond the plastered areas, the offset was taken into account during construction – the wood and plaster will therefore be flush at the end.

The architect already took this into account when designing the shell structure.
We have no insulation on the walls (monolithic, Poroton) and, for example, the garage is set back 6 cm (2.4 inches) from the rest of the house wall so that the wooden cladding on the garage aligns flush with the house wall (which will be plastered).
I hope this is clear.
