Hello dear community of homeowners,

My wife and I recently acquired a house built in 1938 and are nearly finished with the structural shell. We have now hired so-called "professionals" to start plastering the walls, and due to the quite uneven surfaces, up to 3 cm (1.2 inches) of plaster needs to be applied in some areas.

According to our information, for such thicknesses, the final layer should be applied in multiple stages, so we asked the "experts" to proceed accordingly.

However, we have noticed that after the first layer (which is still uneven), the plaster was smoothed or compacted (knocked up).

Is the adhesion for the next layer still guaranteed after this process?
If not, what measures should we take to prevent the plaster from falling off the walls?

Thank you very much for your answers.
