Hello!
Is it technically possible, without makeshift solutions, to move an existing drywall partition between two rooms, creating a recessed section on one side and a protruding bay or alcove on the other side?
A space of 20cm (8 inches) is needed in one room. The reason is that this would avoid having to alter the ceiling, including any suspended ceiling, since only up to about 2.30 meters (7 ft 7 in) in height and the floor would need to be modified.
Thank you

In principle, it is feasible, but if you have underfloor heating, you will probably need to glue the floor profiles on the projection side. Furthermore, if the existing drywall partition was built before the screed, you will end up with a trench along the width of the niche that you will need to fill somehow without disturbing the decoupling between the two screed layers.
Without ceiling mounting, it becomes a bit more complicated because the profiles for the niche must be attached somewhere at the top. In other words, if you do not open the suspended ceiling to install the U-profiles there, you will basically need to build a U-shaped profile support from the drywall partition just below the ceiling. This is certainly possible with a 20cm (8 inch) cantilever, but some improvisation will be necessary.
