I was a bit puzzled by the primary energy demand in our thermal insulation certificate. Isn’t nearly 50 kWh/m2a (5.0 kWh/ft2 per year) somewhat high for a KfW55 house?

It depends on the heat generator how high the primary energy demand is. For consumption, the final energy demand is decisive.

And isn’t this value too high for a brine-to-water heat pump?

For me, it was significantly lower for a brine-to-water heat pump, and as of April 1st, the factor for electricity was even improved.

As a layperson, I would say yes, it is far too high, but I don’t have enough expertise.
