We have a groundwater heat pump, an electric heating element for hot water, and a 10 kW solar system with a 25 kWh (27 kWh) battery storage.
Now in winter, the solar system produces practically nothing. The electricity demand is supplied from the grid.
The system shows the daily electricity consumption.
What I don’t understand about these curves is the electricity demand around 4:00 AM. At that time, we are sleeping, and except for the heat pump, no electricity should be needed. I am not aware of any timer switch that turns anything on at that time.
What could that be?
Best regards,
Bernd

marienschatten19 Dec 2023 16:10Unfortunately, I don’t have any more information. I don’t know anything about a controller. But honestly: what does that have to do with electricity consumption? There is no night switch-off. What else would be possible?
The manual I also have is titled:
WPW 90I WPW 140I WPW 210I WPW 270I. Installation and Operating Instructions.

Yes, I have found those as well.
There is a newer control system I found that includes a weekly scheduler, plus separate summer and winter programs.
With other manufacturers, I’m familiar with nested submenus that contain settings you wouldn’t normally expect to find there.
Or you could try changing something as a test, for example, set the night setback time between 10-11 p.m. and see what happens. If you still get plateaus after 10 p.m. but before 4 a.m., then the logic is simply strange...

marienschatten19 Dec 2023 16:44That sounds like a good idea! I will try it out and get back to you.
Just a rough guess: is there actually a separate regulation for hot water? Like it should be available from around 6 o’clock or so, and that’s why it starts a bit earlier?
@marienschatten People don’t want to accuse you of anything, they just want to help. And yes, they simply don’t know what you know. Your first statement was basically just “No, it’s all assumptions!” It’s at least good to know that no night setback is actually configured. For those who know a bit more (not me...), it looks like there might be one, which is why it can make sense to check other settings that might have a similar effect.

Assuming this is given, you would now still have to specify where you see the peak that is higher than the 5 kW of the heating system.
I just tried to find out what kind of controller it is by using image search. Enlarged a bit, you can see the controller if you search Google for “Rangieren bei der Wärmewende.” There you can see a bit more visually, but unfortunately not the model type. Judging by the design (convex shape / red and blue bars at the lower edge), the controller looks similar to current Dimplex controllers, for example the “Dimplex Accesspoint PGD.” Unfortunately, I didn’t get any further there, but maybe this helps to find a manual.
PS: Now I actually found something after all. Have a look under “neutral_wpm2006-2007_installateur_fd8911-2009-11-12.” Unfortunately, links are not allowed.
