Hello, our heating specialist gave me a quote today for an Eta pellet boiler.

Our house was built in 1965 and has around 200 sqm (2150 sq ft) of living space. It is planned to be insulated from the outside with about 10 cm (4 inches) of insulation. He provided a quote for the following heating system.

The Eta package includes:
Eta pellet boiler 25 kW
Buffer tank 875 liters (231 gallons)
Pneumatic discharge system for pellet storage with 3 suction probes

Since it’s unfortunately not possible to install a solar system on our roof—the neighbor’s roof completely shades ours—he alternatively offered us a domestic hot water heat pump from Viessmann Vitocal 160 a.

What do you think about this setup? I find 25 kW a bit high.

What do you think generally about Eta?

Thank you in advance.

Pellets don’t make a significant difference compared to oil or gas.
With solar thermal, you would probably save only around 100-200 € per year.

A heat pump might be more sensible here, but for a building from 1965, about 10cm (4 inches) of exterior insulation will hardly be sufficient.

25 kW probably reflects that well!

Is there an independent assessment, for example through an on-site consultation?
Was the heating demand calculated according to EN 12831?
