ᐅ Paying an energy surcharge despite a fixed price for the kitchen?

In November 2021, we ordered our kitchen at a fixed price from our local kitchen studio. They specifically recommended doing this even though we hadn’t started building the house yet. We were told that prices would increase significantly. That’s why we agreed on a fixed price, which excluded any possible price increases from the manufacturer or elsewhere.

Last week, our kitchen was finally installed in our new house, unfortunately with several defects, but that is another matter. Suddenly, there is an additional charge of 600 euros, referred to as an energy surcharge. Would you pay this despite having a fixed price agreement?

Thank you for your opinions. I have the contract in front of me; it is dated November 27, 2021. It clearly states that the agreed price is fixed, even in case of any price increases from the supplier. It also includes storage of the entire kitchen until the house is completed.
I don’t understand why I am being accused of not telling the whole truth.
I also did not insult the “bad” kitchen showroom; I only asked whether you would agree to pay the quoted energy surcharge.

What was the outcome with the showroom? Have you followed up with them?

Have all defects rectified and then pay the invoice without the lump sum.
If any issues arise, simply say they were not discussed beforehand and anything not agreed upon cannot be paid, end of story.
Fixed prices set unilaterally are also a nice thing... I heard wood has become cheaper since March, was there a discount for that? 😉

We have paid 80 percent of the kitchen cost; some things are still missing. For example, the refrigerator and the countertop around the cooktop had to be reordered because it was cut incorrectly, which also prevented our great extractor hood from being installed. I am not willing to pay the energy surcharge... we will see if this affects the resolution of the issues.

Before the work is completed, I would hold off on paying the invoice and simply send a brief note to the kitchen installer. After the work is finished, pay the agreed amount without any further comments, and that’s it.
