ᐅ Self-Work – Electrical Cable Installation Through Multi-Utility Entry Sleeve

Hello everyone,

In our new build (currently at the shell construction stage), we have a multi-utility house entry (I will refer to it as "MHE" from now on) located in the utility room.

I am allowed, in coordination with our electrician, to run a power cable from inside the house to our future garden shed. The electrician will handle connecting it to a dedicated 16A circuit breaker.

The electrician suggested that I simply drill through the wall and seal it (possibly with bitumen). I would rather avoid this, as I want to use the MHE.

My plan is to run the cable from the distribution panel to the MHE (approximately 2m (6.5 ft)). I would like to lay the power cable on the floor so that it can later be embedded in the screed.

My question:
Right before the MHE, the cable should come out of the screed, correct? Or do you have a better idea (for example, drilling through the body of the MHE)? My wife would prefer not to have this cable visible...

I have attached a picture where I have tried to illustrate this.

Is there anything else I should consider? There are blue pipes in front of the MHE (I believe they are for heating(?)). I would have to cross them. Am I allowed to do that, or should I use a conduit instead?

I hope I posted this question in the right section.

Thanks and best regards,
Fabian

That's right. In new construction, surface-mounted installations usually look unattractive, but in the utility room, where there are already numerous visible pipes, it should be less noticeable.
Thank you

But may I ask why this is considered "botched work"? Does it affect the screed?

No, not the screed, but the cable. There is no protective covering for foot traffic, and just look at the multi-utility conduit entry.

Can you explain to me how the supply lines come out of the conduit? Flush-mounted?

How do you conclude that there is no gas connection?

Reading other people’s answers and providing sensible responses yourself doesn’t seem to be your strength right now. You’d rather just throw out incomplete sentences [emoji106]

If you read my post again, you’ll see that there is no assumption stated.

True, but maybe I missed something or you know more.

Surface-mounted in the cable duct. Or flush-mounted... in any case, on the wall.

Under the screed you’ll have more trouble than benefit later on. Aside from the technical defects ("botched work"), the loop from the floor to the multi-utility entry point would remain a dirty, hard-to-clean spot.
