Hello!
I am curious to know which tasks you carried out as self-performed work, how much money you saved in euros (€) by doing so, and how long it took you, including who helped you and their qualifications.
And most importantly: would you do it again?

We originally planned to move in only after the house was completely finished, but unexpected things always come up. So, we moved in while some work was still unfinished (the second bathroom still needed tiling, laminate flooring had to be installed in one room, and a few minor tasks remained). However, it was no longer a construction site, and the remaining work was expected to be completed soon.
Without time pressure and with enough funds, it is certainly possible to have everything fully finished before moving in, but most homeowners simply do not have that luxury.

Fortunately, we are not under any time pressure. The buffer between "house should be finished" and "move-in" is three months. And if we realize this won't work, we'll just move later. We are not renting and will only sell the house once everything is secure. All costs, including the garden, are accounted for, and we still have a reserve of almost 80,000 euros. Therefore, our situation is quite relaxed, and we don't need to stress.

If you have the option to let others handle everything and feel good about it, that’s great. If you enjoy working on your home yourself and find deep satisfaction in it, that’s great too.
I believe this decision is made by each person individually and depends on various factors such as skills and abilities, available capital, and personal preferences.
As is often the case: everyone is different.
Best regards

If I spend 10,000 on installing tiles (labor + materials) or invest the same amount only in materials while purchasing the installation at the same quality as above, then mathematically the house is initially worth more. Yes. However, whether this brings any benefit in the long run is a completely different matter. Perhaps the general public prefers the standard tile over the extravagant, expensive one... there is no universal answer.
