world-eHello everyone,
how long are wood fiber insulation boards really suitable for temporary outdoor exposure? Even the different manufacturers provide varying information, ranging from a few weeks up to 5 months under certain conditions (covering with tarpaulins, etc.).
What are the consequences if this period is exceeded, and which measures are necessary if the wood fiber insulation boards are installed before winter but plastered only the following spring? Or is this completely not recommended? What are your experiences?
Thank you very much

I would hang a building membrane (house wrap) on the facade first. We use fleece-faced mineral wool boards, which are water-repellent, but in areas where we hadn’t yet attached a square wire mesh, it was clearly visible that birds used the insulation as nesting material—they simply picked it out. Mice are interested as well... if the insulation is exposed, it would likely be torn apart or something would nest inside it. That’s why we install the square wire mesh directly over the insulation, then the battens, and additionally insect screens at the top and bottom.
