Hello,

I want to install a recessed motion sensor in our concrete ceiling. The cable was laid in a conduit, but no junction box was installed. Can I add a junction box afterwards, or is it a bad idea to drill into the concrete ceiling with a rotary hammer?

Regards

The idea isn’t bad, but drilling into the concrete ceiling is a labor-intensive process that can cause material fatigue. I would rather install a discreet surface-mounted motion detector, similar to a smoke detector.

Something like this? Well... subtle is a relative term 😉
Unfortunately, I have no experience with how precisely you can drill a hole into concrete. If you hit steel reinforcement, it’s game over, right?
