ᐅ Malm bedside table wobbles despite wall anchoring – how to secure it?

DasilaHello everyone,
I bought a Malm nightstand from IKEA, which was fixed directly to the wall using the supplied wall anchors. However, the nightstand still wobbles slightly, especially when it is loaded more heavily or bumped. The screws are tight, and the mounting hardware is installed correctly. My question is: How can I secure the Malm nightstand so that it stands stable and wobble-free despite the proper wall anchoring? Are there any additional tools or tricks to permanently prevent wobbling without affecting the appearance or function? I mainly use the nightstand for books and a lamp, so stability is very important to me. Thanks for your opinions and tips!

How can I secure the Malm nightstand so that it stands firmly and doesn’t wobble, even though it is properly anchored to the wall?First, check if the floor is level. Often, wobbling is caused by uneven flooring. If the floor is uneven, small felt pads or shims under the legs can help.
Alternatively, you can attach additional brackets to the back if the original mounting hardware is not sufficient.

Drywall, for example, requires special anchors. Otherwise, even the strongest screw can come loose in the wrong substrate.
It might also be important to check whether the connection between the nightstand and the wall is loose—not just the wall anchor itself. Reinforcement using additional metal brackets fixed to both the nightstand and the wall near the bottom can significantly reduce tipping without affecting the appearance.
I would recommend identifying the wall type precisely and, if necessary, using different types of anchors before taking further measures.

Reinforcement using additional metal brackets at the lower section [...] can significantly reduce the tendency to tip overThat is correct. Additionally, it is important to check whether the screw depth is sufficient. Even if the screws appear tight, a dowel that is too short or insufficient screw penetration can compromise stability.
Using special cabinet wall mounts that secure not only upwards but also sideways is also effective. For Malm models, for example, there are third-party brackets or metal clips that can be screwed onto the back panel.
Finally, slight flexibility in the construction can sometimes result from the connection between the back panel and the side panels. Check whether these joints are tight; if not, this can contribute to wobbling.
In summary: 1. Check the type of wall and dowels, 2. verify screw and fixing depth, 3. install additional brackets or clips, 4. inspect the construction of the nightstand for loose joints.
