we have purchased a plot in the northern Upper Palatinate (Bavaria). This plot is about 200 sqm (2,150 sq ft) and is located in a holiday home village.
We want to build a log house on it, with timber walls 16 or 20 cm (6 or 8 inches) thick, according to the local development plan. There are two house sizes available (A: 8 x 5.50 m (26 x 18 ft), B: 9 x 5 m (30 x 16 ft)). Both houses have a standard gable roof and two floors (the upper floor has a roof slope of 30 degrees).
Our questions:
- Who can give us general advice on choosing a "good supplier"? (There are so many providers, for example from Russia, Poland, and elsewhere.)
- What is the approximate total cost of such a house at the end, if you don’t do too much work yourself?
Thank you

Hello, we have also been looking for a suitable supplier for a wooden house for about six months. At first, we preferred log cabins and looked at several providers, which was very frustrating. Now we are building a timber-frame house with a German company, but the houses are produced in Estonia. This is the company Norges Hus. We strongly advise against the company Dunzik. What a disaster: their website was terrible, we made an appointment, drove there, only to hear that the prices on the website were from 1996 and the house is now €30,000 (about $32,000) more expensive. Completely unacceptable.

Don Esteban26 Jun 2020 18:33Hello @ImkeZum. I am new here and would also like to build with Norges Hus. I wanted to contact you personally, but I can’t yet because I’m new. Anyway, I just wanted to ask in more detail about your experiences and what you have already checked there. I am still a bit skeptical about the reliability of Norges Hus.

OlliQueck30 Jun 2020 02:06mh have you ever read the Google reviews for Norges Hus?

Don Esteban30 Jun 2020 10:15Thanks for the tip @OlliQueck. I tried it with Google using both Firefox and Chrome. I don’t get any reviews. What do they look like? Can you make a screenshot? Is that allowed here?

Don Esteban30 Jun 2020 10:20Retracting my previous statement. I managed to figure it out. I have been abroad for some time and never received the reviews. Now I manually changed the location, and the reviews appear. 1.0, it doesn’t get any worse than that. I had already suspected quite a bit. And the few positive reports here look fake to me. These are just assumptions, but I will definitely trust my gut feeling. Many thanks to @OlliQueck for this crucial tip.
