ᐅ Laying Patio Slabs (Quarter Bond Pattern Without Joints)

Do patio slabs need to be flush with the curb, or can they also be 1cm (0.4 inches) higher?

As long as the terrace slab is still resting against the step edge to prevent slipping, it is not a problem. The question is how it will look if the slabs are positioned higher than the step edge.

The panels are 8cm (3 inches) high, which should be suitable. Visually, I can’t really picture it either. I was only told that it should be done that way because of the water drainage.
