SuperAggy6 Apr 2018 16:32Hello,
we moved into our house in January, and now that the weather is improving, I want to start working on the garden soon. Our construction company kindly already did some rough leveling while excavating the foundation and geothermal collectors. However, we still have quite a large pile of soil left in the garden. The area where the collectors are buried tends to stay quite wet after rain, with some puddles forming. Our soil is quite clay-heavy. There used to be a brickworks in our village.
Now I’m wondering what the best approach is. My plan was to spread the remaining soil and sand (how much?) across our property and then use a rototiller to till it. After that, I would rake it out and wait two weeks before sowing.
My goal is not a perfect English lawn, but rather a reasonably even play area for the kids. Our plot is 1030m² (11,090 sq ft), slightly sloping towards the southeast, and we have a large cherry tree and walnut tree that I want to avoid damaging as much as possible. There are also two medium-sized birch trees.
Can I proceed as I’m planning, or am I mistaken? I definitely don’t want to have to start over next year.
