Hello everyone, I have the following problem: After moving, my Kallax shelf unit has unfortunately become quite warped. It no longer stands straight and feels somewhat unstable, even though I am sure it was assembled correctly. Does anyone have experience with how to straighten a warped Kallax shelf without completely disassembling it? Are there any specific techniques or practical tips to fix the distortion, or would it be better to order replacement parts? I appreciate any advice, as the shelf is quite heavy and bulky, and I want to avoid damaging it unnecessarily.

I recommend completely emptying the shelf to avoid stressing it when bending it back into place.I will do that then, thanks!

Sometimes it helps to loosen the back panel and then realign or reattach it, since the back panel often provides stability. That’s a great tip! I hadn’t checked the back panel yet – it’s no longer fully flush, and a nail has come loose. That could actually be the cause of the warping. I’ll try to fix and reattach it first.
Hey Soromo, it sounds like your Kallax has already gone on an adventure and got a bit damaged along the way. 🙂 The most important thing is to be patient when straightening it out. A little tip from me: when you reattach the back panel, you can also add small angle brackets at the corners. They are barely visible from the inside but provide extra stability. And don’t worry, it will definitely work – many pieces of furniture have their little quirks after a move. Good luck!

If you refasten the back panel, you can also add small angle brackets at the corners. That’s a smart idea! I’ll try that, especially for added stability.

You can replace it with a new back panel made of thin plywood, which will stabilize the shelf better. Thanks, that sounds like a good alternative if repairing the existing back panel doesn’t work. How technically complex is it to replace the back panel? I don’t have professional tools, just a basic set I use for DIY.
