Hello everyone, I am facing the challenge of mounting my Ikea Kallax shelf on a sloped ceiling and wonder if this is even practical. My sloped ceiling has an angle of about 38 degrees, and the available wall area for mounting is quite narrow.
Since Kallax shelves are primarily designed for standard, flat walls without slopes, I am wondering if there are suitable solutions or special mounting methods to securely and stably fix the shelf on the slope without damaging it.
Has anyone had experience installing Kallax shelves on sloped ceilings? Which fastening techniques have worked, and are there alternative mounting kits or custom solutions that have proven effective?
It is also important for me to know whether the load capacity remains intact and how to best address the slope issue from a technical standpoint.
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice!

I do not recommend directly screwing through the Kallax back panel onto a sloped surface without additional reinforcements due to load distribution concerns.I completely agree with this.
To add to that: Installing on a pitched roof surface requires adjusting the mounting points to ensure the shelf is level and to reduce the risk of deformation. It is advisable to install a horizontal support rail on a stable wall section.
When choosing anchors, the direction of the forces must be considered. Standard expansion anchors, which only handle tensile loads, are unreliable on a sloped surface. Heavy-duty anchors or chemical anchors are recommended if the substrate allows.
Additionally, it makes sense to use angle brackets with the Kallax shelving system to provide a stable connection and improve load distribution. This results in a secure and durable solution.
