Good morning everyone,

Here is the situation:

Bathroom
A drywall partition with metal studs
Double-layered and additionally reinforced with wood/OSB at (hopefully) the crucial points
Tiles are already installed

Now, a wall-mounted vanity cabinet with a washbasin is to be installed here.

Unfortunately, I’m concerned we didn’t consider the weight enough.
My gut feeling says it should hold, but I don’t want to rely on that alone and prefer to be as safe as possible.

According to the installation instructions, the cabinet should be screwed to the wall at a total of 8 points.

I am now looking for the "best" anchors/screws/fastening options suitable for this purpose.

Classic metal hollow wall anchors from F....?
Or are there other alternatives?

Thanks for your advice,
best regards

Standing on it is normal for us,
standing on the ladder and stepping over if necessary, that goes quickly

Hello everyone,

I unfortunately need to bring up this topic again.

I checked the construction once more today.
The build-up from outside to inside is as follows:

- Tiles
- One layer of drywall
- Several layers of wood (we really meant well here, I hadn’t realized it was that much)
- Then comes the cavity

In total, from the top edge of the tiles to the cavity, it is definitely about 75mm (3 inches) that the anchor/screw needs to penetrate.

Looking at the common sizes of metal hollow wall anchors, I’m a bit concerned that they might not be able to expand properly behind all that material because they could be too short.
Or should anchors with a length of 80mm (3 1/8 inches) be long enough to expand securely?

Thanks,
Best regards and good night!

Then use standard anchors,
drill through the tile without hammer action using a masonry drill bit,
then drill into the wood with a wood drill bit,
insert the anchor,
and screw in.

If that helps you sleep better. Additionally, seal with adhesive.

Just search for tilt anchors. They are available from various manufacturers and also in extra-long versions.

EDIT: At f......, they even have special ones for washbasins and urinals with sealing rings. Maximum board thickness is 90mm (3.5 inches).
