I recently bought a Kallax shelving unit from Ikea and plan to install LED lighting inside it to highlight individual compartments visually. Now I’m wondering: What is the best way to discreetly hide the wiring for the LEDs without affecting the look of the shelving unit? Are there any tips for neatly routing the cables along the shelves or back panels? Of course, I also want to incorporate the power outlet as unobtrusively as possible. I would appreciate advice that takes into account both practical implementation and a clean appearance.

Additionally, it helps to spend some time routing the cables precisely along corners and edges to avoid unsightly hanging sections later on.

Can you describe exactly how many compartments will be lit and how the power supply is planned?Thank you for the detailed feedback. Basically, four of the nine compartments are to be lit, each with LED strips installed at the top of the shelf panel. The back panel is made of thin hardboard; subtle cutouts or small slots could be created by careful work. The power outlet is about 1m (3.3 ft) to the right of the shelving unit, and I plan to mount the power supply unit as discreetly as possible on the back panel.
Specifically, I want to know how to neatly bundle the main LED cables and route them along the sides without making it visible or messy. Are there good fastening solutions for this? And would pinching the cables between the frame and back panel provide enough stability? Thanks in advance for the tips!
