ᐅ Is it possible to apply for temporary construction power as a private individual?

My wife and I are building a prefabricated house with a basement this year. The basement construction is scheduled for week 14 (end of March/beginning of April). We are currently in the process of arranging the utility connections. During the selection meeting with our builder, the topic of temporary construction power came up: either we coordinate the provision ourselves, or they handle it. Of course, not for free...

My question is: Can I, as a private homeowner, apply for temporary construction power, or does it have to be done through an electrician? Has anyone had experience with this? We would like to save the 400 EUR that the builder charges for managing it...

We have contacted a local electrical company. Unfortunately, I don’t have the cost information right now for what they charged.

As a private individual, you cannot apply for or, above all, connect the construction power supply yourself.

You are allowed to sign the contract and make the payment; that’s all. Only a licensed electrician is authorized to handle this.

Ask a trusted electrician what it would cost to rent a temporary power meter for the duration of the construction. In my opinion, it probably won’t be significantly cheaper overall, since the electrician you then hire would not be involved in the subsequent electrical work.

Of course, additional construction costs were discussed! It’s just that I don’t want to pay them for something I can organize myself... The question is whether it’s cheaper through the local electrician.

Count on about 1000 € for renting the container and connecting it to the grid.

By the way, not every electrician was allowed to do this in our case. The local utility company certifies certain electricians. The connection to the overhead line was handled by the utility company, and of course, they charged for that as well.

No offense, but you come across as quite irritated. If the topic of additional construction costs had been discussed "sensibly and thoroughly," you certainly wouldn’t be asking about the temporary power meter—or whether you can apply for it yourself.
