Does anyone here use a multi-split system for heating, for example as an alternative in older buildings when insulation or renovation is no longer worthwhile?

I’m not familiar with the various split systems, but I’ve come across them often as an alternative to conventional heating when insulation and renovation hardly make sense anymore for the current residents.

I would have concerns about noise, drafts, and the resulting dust circulation since it is an air-to-air heat pump after all.

A photovoltaic system would at least be available for the transitional period from spring to autumn.

Except in high-altitude areas, you probably won’t experience extended periods below -15°C (5°F) in Germany. A reasonably insulated house (meeting the building energy law or higher standards) should retain an acceptable level of warmth for 1-2 days, I believe.

Therefore, I would only be concerned about the hot water generation system.

For water heating, I am planning a domestic hot water heat pump, unless it ends up being an air-to-water heat pump.

Can a split air conditioner also control indoor humidity? Which model would that be?

I have ordered the Panasonic Etherea air conditioning units, and as far as I know, they regulate the indoor humidity.

No, they don’t. The Etherea units only dehumidify; they do not humidify. However, there are ways to slightly reduce or speed up the dehumidification process.

Ok, thank you very much for the clarification
