I have been reading a lot, and now things are finally starting for us.
We have a plot of land in the Hannover area and yesterday we conducted a soil survey with 4 boreholes to make sure we can build our single-family house with a basement. The soil expert found water at a depth of 4.5 m (15 feet), but said that without a waterproof concrete basement (also called “white tank”), there shouldn’t be any problems with a basement. The soil is otherwise very good. He was quite impressed. Some neighbors in the area have drilled wells and said they had to drill up to 8 m (26 feet) to reach water.
The “high” water level detected yesterday was probably also due to the severe storm we had on Sunday evening in and around Hannover. The soil expert mentioned this as well…
Do you have any additional advantages or advice for or against building a basement?

Water drains away immediately here, so although we have a concrete basement, it is not constructed as a "waterproof tank" (or “white tank”)...
By the way, we negligently built without an expert report 😉.
