Hello!

We are interested in a semi-detached house planned to be built in 2014. However, what concerns me is that the building description states there are no sound insulation requirements within the house. Is this a standard phrase, or should I be worried? I suspect it is related to the interior walls being constructed only with 12.5 cm (5 inches) plasterboard.

I am a complete layperson, but I find it hard to believe that sound insulation could be effective with such a wall.

Could an expert or someone experienced with plasterboard please explain whether my concerns are justified?

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything relevant using the forum search....

The building description states exactly:
Ground floor
"Entrance floor party walls made of concrete or masonry walls according to structural engineering.
Entrance floor interior walls as double-sided, double-layered, insulated gypsum stud walls (thickness = 12 cm (5 inches)), e.g., type W112.
Upper floor/Attic
Non-load-bearing interior walls as gypsum plasterboard stud walls (e.g., type W112) or solid gypsum panels (thickness = 10-12 cm (4-5 inches)) at the general contractor’s discretion, or in the basement as double-sided, double-layered stud walls, e.g., type W112."
