Hello everyone, I recently assembled an Ikea Besta shelving unit and noticed that some parts don’t feel very secure, and the unit wobbles a bit. My main question is: how can I specifically tell if there are any mistakes in the assembly of my BESTA system? I would like to know which typical signs indicate incorrect assembly or faulty connections before I have to take everything apart again. Are there particular areas that often cause problems or visual checks I can perform? I want to avoid risking damage later or having the furniture be unstable. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the detailed explanation! I only inserted the back panel without firmly screwing it in. Could that really be the cause of the wobbling?

The back panel is indeed an important component that significantly increases stability.

I wasn’t always able to countersink exactly during assembly; some parts ended up slightly crooked.

Misaligned joints can lead to uneven stress and affect the overall structure.

My recommendation: Tighten the back panel screws firmly according to the instructions and align all connections precisely. Also check all dowels and connectors to ensure they are securely seated. If the shelf still wobbles afterward, you should verify that all levels are horizontal and that the base is stable.

Defects in individual parts or small assembly inaccuracies can cumulatively contribute to wobbling.
