EinmalimLeben28 May 2023 18:34Good evening!
We are wondering if it might be possible to rent the standpipe later since it is very expensive, and in the meantime set up an IBC tank. In your opinion, would this be sufficient? We are building a 140 sqm (1507 sq ft) bungalow with solid construction!
We would rent the standpipe from the screed stage onwards, if needed. Has anyone done it this way and can share their experience? Many thanks!

At the beginning, that might be sufficient. However, you should discuss this with the respective trades. Some may require a minimum pressure. In that case, you might need to provide a good pump as well. I think by the time you reach the screed stage, this usually won't work anymore...

The standpipe requires a 550 euro deposit, it might get hit or stolen, plus 2.50 euros rental per day, 50 euros for cleaning, and another 20 euros for disinfection... Of course, peanuts compared to the total construction cost, but I can still use or sell the tank afterwards...

The standpipe is removed by you or the workers after each use. So, it won't be stolen.

The house connection might already be in place before the screed is installed.
For the interior plastering, we used a rainwater barrel and a pump. But, as I said, that needs to be coordinated with the trades involved.
Some require a transfer chamber anyway due to excessively long pipe routes, so it might be possible to install this chamber earlier and have a proper connection there.

We have a hydrant directly in front of the property. Unfortunately, the neighbor parked her car there, and then she can’t get out if the standpipe is in place. We’ve already talked about it, but since we want to keep a good relationship, it would be great to use the standpipe as little as possible for that reason as well.
The responsible employee from the water association is unfortunately never reachable and is also somewhat overwhelmed... Well, never mind. In any case, there are many reasons why we want to rent this equipment as late as possible and for as little time as necessary.
