Hello everyone, I’m preparing for my move and considering the best ways to protect my IKEA Malm furniture to prevent any damage. Specifically, I’m looking for advice on padding, disassembling, and safe loading. What materials, methods, and tools have you used to protect the surfaces from scratches and dents while keeping the furniture manageable to transport in separate parts? If anyone has experience with Malm dressers or beds, I would appreciate any specific tips. Thank you!
Thank you for the very helpful tips! Could you also tell me if it is better to remove the drawers completely from the Malm dressers before transport, or to leave them in place and secure them? I am concerned that loose drawers might get damaged during transport or damage the furniture if they move around uncontrollably.

Whether it’s worth removing the drawers completely before transport or better to leave them in I always recommend removing the drawers and packing them securely. This reduces the risk of damage to both the furniture and the drawers themselves. If you leave the drawers in, you should at least secure them with tape or straps to prevent them from opening and falling out. However, there is still a risk of edge and scratch damage. In my experience, removing them is often less complicated and safer.

I always recommend removing the drawers and packing them safely I agree. This way, you can also more easily cover the interior surfaces properly. Simply wrap the drawers with packing paper to prevent scratches or dirt.Similar topics
