Hello everyone, I recently discovered damage on a corner of my Ikea Metod countertop, where the surface and the underlying material have split. My question is: What is the most effective way to repair these damaged corners of the Metod countertop so that the stability of the surface is maintained and the repair remains as visually discreet as possible? Are there specific materials or techniques that are particularly suitable for this type of repair, especially considering the thickness and construction of the Metod countertops? I would appreciate concrete tips, step-by-step instructions, or recommendations for suitable products.

I would recommend first cleaning and roughening the damaged corner with sandpaper. Then use a waterproof wood filler and allow it to dry thoroughly. After that, sand it again and either paint it with a suitable color or apply a film. This way, the corner remains stable and looks neat.

One more tip: Make sure the countertop is not subjected to any weight during the repair. Especially at the corners, this can otherwise lead to chipping. Allow the filler material to fully cure before sanding or continuing with further treatment.

It is important to apply a sealant after the repair to protect the panel against moisture. For Ikea Metod panels, repair kits that match the surface colors are sometimes available. Just ask at your local hardware store or craft shop.
