Close-up of a modern chrome single-lever bathroom faucet with handle in front of bathroom tiles

I recently bought an apartment that I plan to rent out. It has been fully renovated, but the single-lever mixer above the bathtub in the bathroom is not working properly. I want to remove the faucet (see photo) completely to find the cause. To do this, I first need to remove the lever, which is proving difficult.

Although I am a trained mechanical technician, I have not yet been able to remove the hot and cold water lever. There is a hole on the underside of the lever, about 5 mm (0.2 inches) in diameter. At first, I assumed there was a screw inside that needed to be loosened to remove the lever. I thought the screw could be loosened with an Allen key, Phillips screwdriver, or similar tool. However, I have not been able to see any screw head inside the lever.

I shined a flashlight into the hole but could not identify what is inside. In any case, there is nothing screwable or movable that I can detect.

Apparently, this faucet is a Geberit model from around 1995.

I am sure that an experienced plumbing professional would know exactly how to remove the lever.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or tips on this.

Kind regards,
Harry

Have you attached the small gear selector lever? If so, the larger one is probably just a cover plate.

You are right, the small lever was secured with a small set screw with an internal hexagon, and the large one is just a cover. Now everything is back in order and works perfectly.

and the large one is just a cover panel.
Then take another photo without this cover panel and help the next person facing the same issue.
